Income Protection
Mr L is 31 years old, non smoker and in a higher than usual risk occupation and is looking to replace some of his income (income protection insurance) in event of any illness that may prevent him from being able to carry out his normal duties at work. The Government restricts any insurer to an absolute maximum of 60% of the gross income earned, so therefore with Mr L, his salaried income is £30,000 and is entitled to apply for a benefit of £1250pm.
There are options of multiple deferred periods, ranging from day 1 cover, through to 102 weeks, logically, the shorter your deferred period, the more expensive that it will be. Mr L requested a deferred period of 52 weeks as he had existing short term accident sickness cover for 12 months.
Researched showed that there was a range of policies that would provide him with £1250pm until he reached the age of 65 prices ranged from £25pm through to £149pm.
We also have providers who do not descriminate against hi risk occupations, smokers or gender for income protection
